If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a completely made-up fictional memory of you and me. It can be anything you want - good or bad - but it has to be fake. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your journal and be surprised (or mortified) at what ( Read more... )

There was that time that you were balancing on the icy tree that had fallen and caught - at a 45 degree angle - over the stream the runs through Hocking Hills. You remember that tree, just down the path aways from the metal bridge from the parking lot, in the rappeling area? I told you that balancing on fallen trees was a summer activity, and that the ice would make it too slippery, but no - you had to walk up it.

I was impressed, actually, that you made it all the way up safely. However, as always, coming down was a bit harder - and hard it was indeed. You broke through the ice on the stream, which luckily wasn't deep, and I had to find a blanket for you to sit on so you wouldn't soak the car seat. We went to Johnathan's house, since he was nearby, then you changed into dry sweatpants and tshirt, and we spent the evening drinking hot chocolate and telling stories.

We need to do that again sometime, don't you think?

What a day that was! And the funny thing is that I never learn - I still can't pass a fallen tree without at least attempting to climb it. :)

Greta! Remember that time when I drove to Ohio to pick you up to go to Ashokan dance camp?! we drove in my little volvo all the way to New York where the Red Stick Ramblers were playing! On the way there, we got kind of lost and had to ask an old lady sitting outside of a bakery how to get back on the interstate. She smoked a pipe and rocked in a rocking chair with a hot cup of coffee and a plate full of donuts next to her. She didn't mind that it was well below freezing outside! Instead of just giving us directions, she gave us the most useful piece of advice on life, love, and destiny, but all of which we couldn't remember 5 minutes after leaving! Strange... But then once we got to the camp, unpacked, and headed to our first dance of the evening after such a long drive, all the answers to our questions were re-answered and we instantly remembered why we were put here on this beautiful Earth! And through everything that old woman told us, we realized that our main purpose in life was to play music and dance to it! It seemed to ( ... )

...to play music and dance to it. That strange old lady was so very wise. I wish we could do that every new years. It was one of those times that you never forget, no mater how many festivals you go to, or good times you have.

remember when we went to that comic book convention in Wyoming? And you spent $368 on that super-rare Incredible Hulk comic book, and I bought that pair of pink moon boots for my grandma? then we went to that tourist trap "mystery spot" off Interstate 90, and the damn thing cost us another 20 bucks and all they did was roll a bowling ball uphill. But we did get those awesome glow-in-the-dark hats.
