when did you start german?

I really want to take a language but I feel stupid starting one sophomore year...because everyone seems so ahead and you can't start in the spring.

Two months ago. And yes, I fully intend to major in it. No feeling stupid--as a sophmore, you already know how to manage your time to include studying the language (in theory), and there are actually a whole bunch of us in my section of GER 101. Don't rule it out!

Linguistic impotence. Reminds me of my geo trip to Morocco. Only one of our group could speak French, none spoke Arabic, and *certainly* none spoke Berber, which was what was actually spoken in most of the areas we visited.

Linguistic omnipotence would be cool...
