In all actuallity. If you were to stay at manoa...how often would you see your dad? I know you think like you might see him more than you would in the mainland..but would those couple of extra times seeing him really be worth living some place you hate. You're still going to see him if you do attened college in the mainland plus there's always the phone. And yes...you will probably get homesick..but it doesn't make up for all the fun you will have. The mainland has a lot more to offer than hawaii....but ultimitally it's up to you and which school would be the best for what you want to do.
I hope that helped a little.

I was so scared to leave my family to go off to college in Oregon because they mean everything to me. However, I do think that leaving Hawaii for college was a good decision and it has benefited me greatly. It's sad in the beginning to leave family and people that you love, but ultimately it will help you to become a more grown up and independent person. Depending on your major you will most likely learn a lot more here, than you will there and not just about education, but about life. Like Whitney said, family is only a phone call away and the year will be over in no time. Remember that even if you don't like it, you can always go home. My advice to you if you do go away for college is to stick it out for at least a year. So many students end up leaving college to go home in the middle of the year and then they get stuck there and wish they hadn't left in the first place. Hope this helps! :)

Leave. When you say, "I might feel like I'm missing out my life" then already know that yu're supposed to get out ofhere. besides, you've worked way too hard to settle for something less than what you are capable of.
