The Warden/Inmate FYI
Are you playing a Warden? Are you the player of an assigned Inmate? These are all important things you should know about Warden and Inmate abilities and expectations.
Warden/Inmate Expectations
1. You should keep in regular contact with the player of your Inmate/Warden. Get to know your characters, plot about what bits of their personality will clash, make plans together to show this.
2. If your Warden came here as a Warden, then they know why they're there. If you're a Warden, don't come into the game asking where you are. You've already made your deal with the Admiral, you already know what is expected of you. The only characters that should be confused are Inmates. There are exceptions. If it fits the Warden character to not know what's happened to them, then that is fine. But this should not be the case for everyone and must be discussed with the mods.
3. If you're a Warden, then you have a job to do. You've been given an Inmate, and the whole point of being a Warden is to help that Inmate. This means doing something beyond asking if they're all right every week or so. If your Warden's personality suggests they will be a negligent or dangerous person for their Inmate, that's fine. Just bear in mind that In Character actions breed In Character consequences. If you are not doing your job, people will notice, including the Admiral, and you will be addressed accordingly. Inactive Wardens run the risk of having their Inmates transferred to another Warden.
4. Warden/Inmate sex will create IC consequences. This game is not for shipping. If you came here solely because you wanted your character to hook up with another character, then you picked the wrong game. If you want to develop some tension, have your characters start a relationship, or even abuse their status as a Warden or Inmate, that is fine, so long as it's In Character. But do it realistically, and be aware that any and all characters who know of it may respond accordingly. If your Warden decides to have sex with an Inmate (or vice versa), bear in mind that again, it won't go unnoticed.
Stuff To Keep In Mind
Inmates planning to cause trouble. If you plan anything, you need to inform any people who are involved, and that includes anyone with
a cabin on the level it will take place. Please remember to make an OOC post giving any information players will need to know. Remember, if you do something bad, you are going to get caught. You're on a prison ship. Make plans for it in advance and don't godmod everyone else into complicity. If you want to do something bad and keep it a secret, you'll have to plan it so that people realistically won't notice. Talk to the mods first.
Wardens with troublemaking Inmates. You were asked to choose an Item in the application process. There is a reason. There shouldn't be any threads with a Warden looking for their Inmate or claiming that they had no idea something bad was going on with their Inmate because their item should tell them those things. Unless your Warden is being negligent and has misplaced their item or you have another In Character reason, these things should not happen.
Plan to take part in ports. This applied even if you don't know the fandom or don't like the fandom. We provide all the information you are going to need to understand the setting. If you need any clarification, the mods are perfectly willing to answer any questions or address any misgivings you may have.
All Wardens being assigned an Inmate should review the Inmate's bio in their application and familiarize themselves with any special powers/personality quirks. Regardless of any physical weaknesses you may have, it is your responsibility to request from the Admiral anything you'll need to make keeping your Inmate under control manageable for you. If you need clarification, ask your Inmate's player.
