It might have been spinning when it hit the ground, so you might be right and the disc is broken. Aargh, I had so much porn important data on there!
Things have been kind of crap at work lately, and then this happened. *headdesk* I'm trying to maintain a positive attitude, but it seems every time I try to do that something conspires to make things worse. Surprisingly, I think cleaning my room might make things better, because I'd have things better organized, and I'd find this one TPB and this one game I've been looking for.
And really, it kind of was my fault. I knew I was risking the drive getting knocked down the way I had things set up, but I thought I would be careful. I could have just switched the drive and my mouse between ports and had the drive sitting on the couch, and it wouldn't have fallen. Hence, I'm an idiot.
If I get it fixed, I'm going to need a USB extension cord.
As long as you had no questionable porn or tv shows/comics on there - I think you should be in the clear to get it fixed. No one is going to care if you have porn on there, other than possibly copying it for themselves.
Hypothetically speaking, if I had porn on that drive, it would be of only the highest quality, so high that it would qualify as art, and no one would object to that. Hypothetically speaking, of course. ;P
My mom was suggesting sending it back and getting a different brand. I'll consider it if they can't fix it. I did have some financial information there (back-ups of college loan stuff, etc) which I have elsewhere, but I'd rather keep private.
I actually woke up this morning feeling a lot better in general. I even forgot it was my birthday (which I was half-dreading) until I clocked in to work, I forgot I was pissed off at a coworker for yelling at me until about 10 a.m., and I forgot about the drive until I was eating lunch. I guess my subconscious was giving me an intervention!

Google the problem and see if anyone has a solution, but it's probably going to have to be sent for repairs.
