Goodbye, Livejournal. (I terribly abhor saying goodbye, ever, but it is for the best.)

Dear LiveJournal,

"Happiness is like mercury: hard to hold, and when we drop it, it shatters into a million pieces. Maybe the bravest of all are those who have the courage to reach for it again." - Mary Higgins Clark

I purchased an empty, black-bound journal with a single kanji on the closing flap: Simplicity.

I've already begun writing in it, ( Read more... )

Personally, I always found LiveJournal to be the #1 way to stay in contact with friends and keep in touch with what's going on in their lives, especially when everyone is busy or has conflicting schedules and can't afford time for a phone call. Or when they don't want to do something as impersonal as e-mail. LJ is more personal and cozy. Unlike Facebook and MySpace.

LJ makes me feel like I am really connected to my friends, and it's a great place for me to vent when I can't find pen and paper anywhere. Typing out my feelings gives me immediate comfort, whereas writing them out leaves me feeling slightly empty.

Plus, it makes me feel...not so alone, you know?

I guess I'm having trouble understanding your reasons, but I'll respect them.

I'll miss you Jen. :(

:( :( :( I guess I understand. I'll have to get better at actual e-mail or something, because I have no intention of losing touch with you like I've done with so many people.

I couldn't agree more. Doesn't it feel great to be liberated from LJ?
