What do you think?

I'm a ex-partner of 4 years. I've recently been trying to get back into the company. I did not leave the company voluntarily, and the situation surrounding my termination was very shady. I was terminated for a customer complaint which is odd because during my run with the company I never once had a customer complaint. Not once! I won't go into all ( Read more... )

I would probably not go in person unless you are able to make an appointment. I feel like that would make you look desperate and they might not hire you if they get that vibe. I would keep calling once a week and also apply for other jobs as well.

Personally, if you're collected about the situation and the location is close to you, I'd at least drop in.

I've either gone to every place I've truly wanted to work for personally to meet with a manager, or placed a phone call expressing my wish to, but letting them know that it was a bit of a distance for a casual drop-in and it might not happen. If I'm less enthused, I'll send in a phone call about three weeks into my application process. And this is all when I'm only still an applicant. I've gotten e-mails returned personally from managers and interviews out of this - it shows enthusiasm for the job, initiative, and gives your potential employer a chance to "feel you out." Or so I've been told by the managers.

This is all to say that I think you should go down to the store. It doesn't even have to be an entire "sit down" situation, if you are worried about looking desperate (and you also have a casual "I was here anyway" story with the homework); just let whoever's working know that you're there to talk to him when he has a ( ... )

Thanks for the advice guys! Very good suggestions all around! I'm just kind of confused because every time the manager and I spoke he would tell me how busy the store was and how short staffed they were. We even had a face-to-face interview set up, and when I came in he asked if we could re-schedule it because of how busy the store was. I almost said, "Well, give me an apron and I'll hop on bar! It seems - at least from my perspective, that hiring a seasoned 4 year partner would be the best thing he could do if they're as busy as he says. I just really want to get back in with the company, and I hope that I'm not being strung along. I think I'm actually gonna give him a call now. It's rainy and gross and I don't feel like going up there.

I guess if you want to be underpaid for the work you do, go for it. Unless you think it's balancing out with you getting benefits, assuming they don't cut your hours.
