I am seriously considering buying a power massager. My eyes are on the Homedics Therapist Select series, because they are said to be very helpful for people who, like me, are made of knots.

In particular, I am viewing this model, the Shiatsu SPOT Massaging Cushion, because of its relatively low cost and versatility.

I would definitely suggest the first one, however I usually go for the free alternative of finding a very tursted friend to do a spot check on my back... *shrug*

I have questions about the tools you use, as I am now also considering full body vibrating and heating mats.

I have a Homedics Heating and vibrating chair mat in my lazy boy, so if I'm alone I pretty much pass out into a nap on that for a few hours. I have a small arsenal of trusted friends that will give me a massage if I ask for it. I also have, as a last resourt, my own double jointed flexability to rub down a few spot check places. ^___^ I've also changed my life style a bit (despite the 19.5 credit hour semester I'm taking right now) so that I don't stress out as much, and I go with the flow, making my back and body kess as knotty.
