See... I thought this was a one shot because I didn't know what Sam did. My brain is Dean's brain and we had no idea. But I was talking about this with mgbutterfly just a minute ago and I think I've got an idea for a sequel that will explain it. And it's long and angsty and apocalyptic. And will likely take me more than a month or so to write. But I think it's coming...

Good fic, with all of the tension, the little bit of peace at the end, and the uncertainty of what happened to set them free. I like that little bit of mystery, although I wouldn’t mind knowing what happened. :)

The last section, with Dean unable to sleep and repeatedly checking on Sam, and then Sam finally doing the only thing that will get Dean to sleep, was quite sweet.

Favorite lines:

"Yeah, well, that's what parents do, Sam. They fuck their kids up. When you grow up you get to decide which of the fucked up bits you're gonna keep and which parts you're gonna throw away. But you were always pretty good at figuring out what you wanted to throw away."

Love this dialogue, the truth of what Dean’s saying at the start and the pain of his last line.

“You don’t get to have this. You can’t have good things, you’ll just taint them. And if you try to hold onto them, we will take them away from you.” I ache for Sam here, because his life has sucked so hard in this department. He keeps losing his loved ones, and he really has to be

Yay! Someone enjoyed the Cleopatra 2525 reference. I bet Dean totally made Sam watch that show on Sunday mornings. (It's not like they were watching the 700 Club)
I'm glad you enjoyed it - I did plan to leave the 'how Sam defeated the demon and saved them all' thing a mystery because I really had no idea. But now... I think I have an inkling and a sequel. But it has to wait until I finish the other 2 porny fics I'm working on.
