probably be dead
before the light turned green
as we approached

Well... no offense, but I really don't GET haiku's. They make absolutely no sense to me. I think I need something easier, like limericks. Those I do get... well, most of the time anyway.

You know, something like this:

The prez of the US of A,
Had sex in the White House one day.
They did naked rolls,
On the nuclear controls
And blew North Korea away.

See? Makes much more sense, doesn't it? :P

Limericks seem easier, but you do have to make it make sense...which you obviously can do quite successfully! In Haiku, you just have to follow the 5/7/5 syllable rule and they don't really have to make sense.
