how long does it take?

In November I became really ill and found out after a few blood tests that I had a weird form of pneumonia...mycoplasma pneumonia. I had been in America for a few weeks before that and had been extremely active while I was there. I had gone hiking a minimum of 5 miles each day in the mountains of northern NJ and in the Catskills in NY (that was ( Read more... )

wow
hope you get all better soon

i had it really bad as a kid because it was misdiagnosed.. after going to doctor 3rd time and getting chest xrays - it took me 2 weeks to recover, but got worse before better.. almost died.. my mom had me sleeping on a couch in her bedroom to make sure i kept breathing and they didnt want to move me to the hospital because they thought it would be too traumatic.. i remember my mom carrying me to the bathtub to get cleaned-up, and how food seemed totally revolting.

it took me gosh, a long long time to get my strength back - maybe 6 months. but i think that was from muscle atrophy - definitely try to do as much phsyical activity as you can to build your strength up ;)

wow, that must have been frightening for you and your parents. Six months sounds like such a long time.

Thanks for the advice...hubby and I went for a long walk last night and while I huffed and puffed, I felt good afterwards. ;)

USA: making the rest of the world sick, literally.

I had it when I was five years old. From what I recall, it was a good month or so until I could breathe without assistance, and most of that time was spend in an O2 tent.

Gees...what a trauma for a 5 year old...like the boy in the plastic bubble! Notice any long term effects, like diminished lung capacity?

*hugs*

I'm so sorry that you've been so ill. I have been wondering where you'd been.

I had it when I was a kid and it seemed ages before I really felt like my self again. I remember Mom having to help me into the bath and back out again.

Get well soon!!

God, so many people seemed to have it as a kid. I feel fine mentally and physically most of the time, except when I have to make some kind of physical exertion.

Thanks for your good wishes!

Just take things easy but try and push your self a little harder every day, not to much but just enough if you know what I mean.

I hope you and Nem come back soon I have missed both of you!

*hugs*
