We made soup by committee today. It was delicious, here is what we did.
2 boxes (about 64 oz) of chicken broth. We used the organic.
6 large sweet potatoes, peeled
4 leeks
1 TBS ground ginger
1 TBS Chinese five spice (the mix from the Mustard Seed in NH is my favorite- yay mail order)

I think a good fatty milk (I am not sure which is fattier, almond or goat) will do nicely.
The blending was the most important part, it thickened everything and made it all glorious.

Brian, it was really really good even before the cream was added, you might try it that way before adding anything else.
Mm. I must experiment more with soups, yes indeed...
