I would be happy with a con that had a website that looked like it was done this century. I mean seriously, Pacificon's website is a disgrace, and Kublacon's is not much better.
More than polls, I would have a gaming section that was properly searchable. That is, searchable by type of game, day, hour/section, GM, genre, experience level, etc.. This is all basic, basic stuff for a database, and there is no excuse for any convention in this day and age not to have a good database. Yes, Pacificon, I'm looking at YOU and your goddamn cut-and-paste schedule. NO. FUCKING. EXCUSE.
Yeah, this last con was the last straw, why do you ask?
If I win the lottery... Yeah, similar list. By the by - Westercon 64 only makes a touch of $$ on the t-shirts we're selling. $15, tax included + shipping if we need to. Yeah, that was Glenn's idea. He's got some good ones.
Sounds like some smokin hot ideas. Not all of them even require a lotto ticket. So, have any interest in being part of Big Bad Con? Some of these ideas I'm already incorporating while others I'd like to talk to you about more. Check out the site www.bigbadcon.com and shoot me an email (seannittner@gmail.com). Let me know what you think.
I read your post and it got me thinking some. A number of the ideas I'm already incorporating, some of them I know wouldn't work for me, some of them I want to investigate further. I thought I'd run some ideas/questions by you.
Go to other peoples Cons and set up a table, sell t-shirts and memberships to my Con at a discount...
I'm on cons like white on rice. At least those I can go to. I've talked to Japji from Kubla extensively, as with Chris Hanrahan from Endgame and Doug from NeonCon. I don't have much of any connection to Roderick (DDC) though. Do you know him by chance? If so, would you be up for an introduction? Any other cons you've attended that you really admire and thing "Yeah, these people do it right!"?
As for pimping my wares, I'm not sure I've got the stamina to sit out a con just advertising for my own, but I'll definitely be bringing whatever swag I have and advertising while I'm there. Any ideas about how to approach people to get names of reliable folks?
