So yes I am the help desk today, hit me with your best questions. Heck I'll even turn anonymous posting on for those asking the "tough" questions. ;)

Between the braying of my co-irkers and the ringing of the phone I could really use the distraction.

Brought to you by Clontarf, the only Irish Whiskey that sounds like a Klingon!

I assume you are on a budget and are more familiar with PC's over Macs.

Well you are going to be stuck with Vista no matter what you buy. So max out your ram, 4 gigs at least. A duo-core processor is plenty, don't get sucked into a quad if you don't need to spend the money. Artists always have huge file sizes, make sure you get at least a 100 gig hard-drive and a DVD burner.

Personally I've had good luck with Dell's and of all things Gateways. IBM's in the last year or so have gone to crap. Sony has the best screens.

Avoid the Centino processor if possible. Dell's use Intel chips, but Gateways use AMDs.
