I think I would, if I didn't think that the horse would take me onto bigger and better things. If it's a world-class horse, though, $25K wouldn't be enough.
It'd depend on a lot of things. I've been offered $50,000 for my Thunder...but at the time I would never consider selling him. I still don't think I would. He's an amazing horse, and amazing athlete, and is still improving. I think he can do 1-D when I get him straight. He's got the most lovely personality and will do his best for me.
I'd say you'd have to weigh out the situation carefully. I wouldn't give up a horse that could take me further, and improve my life (in my riding or otherwise). However, if it'd be good for the horse (possibly even better) and I could handle letting the person have the horse, then I'd probably do it.
I've been offered more than twice that for Homie both before and after winning at the NBHA Youth World Championships and I wouldn't take it.
I love him too much to ever part with him. He's spoiled rotten and I don't think anyone would ever understand his quirks and love him for what he is. He's stuck with me but somehow, I know he's okay with that.
