I think I need help with some things, particularly poles! Also Titan's run, not too much Thunder's as it was just the first run going opposite directions and there were a few quirks.

Titan's Run was mostly my fault. Well, he was pokey and slow, but I screwed up the 3rd barrel by pulling the rein toward my knee. That tightened both sides of the ( Read more... )

On the first barrel from what I could tell you were setting him up way to early. You're rating a little too soon. Push him another stride and then set him up and turn. Your pockets are nice, he's entering good and leaving pretty tight. Also be aware of your body. You're setting up to turn with your body and that's really what's making him set up and turn. So, ride all the way to your rate point and then set down and ask him to turn. Does that make any sense?
Hope it helps a little.

Also, where are you? I'm from Mississippi and none of the arenas I run in have you come in from the side like that.

Actually, I didn't notice the first turn until last night, the problem there is we ran straight and veered off too late, I don't rate my horses, they rate themselves, and part of it was the tiny arena, but yeah he was definitely set up way too early and that was because of my take off point and then the running toward the third barrel and veering off, I usually make a straight line for barrel 1.

THank you for your help.

Oh, and I'm from Michigan and SEVERAL of the arenas here are like that. Sure there are a lot that you just run in straight, but ugh, I don't like arenas with the side gates.

Your pole run looked good! And knocking a pole over happens to everyone, so don't worry about it to much. Anyway for poles try to run down closer to the poles and to come home straight. I know it can be difficult, but once you have that sorted out you'll be surprised how much faster your runs are. :) I hope that helps.
