For those of you that live in colder states, do you ever feel like your life has run out of fulfillment in the fall/winter? Haha, WHY does Michigan's winter season suck worse than other cold weather states?
I think you have a good plan. Focus on just one horse and get that one going really well. I'm not crazy about calming supplements (I'm not that crazy about drugs period unless they are absolutely necessary) but maybe something herbal. Also, I don't know how old Thunder is, but sometimes a solid, focused horse comes with time. Then again, sometimes it's a personality trait. Don't let a bad show make you quit. Get mad. Get serious. Figure out you and your horses problem. Fix it. And make yourself a better rider. Sometimes it takes a really bad weekend to show you exactly where you need work. Good luck and congrats on the engagement and the move!
It is an herbal supplement, and I'm not a big fan of them either, but there is just no other way to get him to stay calm and listen. He's 10 and he acts like a 2 year old on speed. I've done the ground work I've done everything I can think of and everything Pat Parelli talks about (and other trainers). Its sort of last resort with him. It thats what it takes to get through to him, I'll do it.

i hate the cold. i live in colorado and this year we are having a bad winter.... its been a long time since we have had -36 degrees with a -70 degree wind chill... its messed my riding up soooooo much cause before this hit i was riding all three of my horses every day or atleast every other day. and my colt is having an almost completely work free winter.... and Goliath is bored to tears and shows it..... i hate winter! i am thinking about moving down south were its warmer year round
I'm moving to Arizona in April, and I plan on staying there for a while to make sure I like the warmer climate, but I don't think I'll have any problems.
-70 degree wind chill? Damn. I hate it here because one days its 10 degrees and then two days later its 60! It just makes the ground muddy and nasty. We actually had tornadoes in January.
yea its pretty bad right now. i wish it would get that warm right now, even if it does get muddy!!! i am thinking of moving to Dalhart, Texas. Thats where the people are that bought my old barrel horse. So they are looking around for us. Arizon sounds fun. anywhere but where its cold lol. but yea. hope you like it if you move!!!!!
