Friends-

As always, when you feel that your career paths arent working out like you planned and you need a little cheering up, just remember what I do for a living.

Right now I'm desperate to find a job LIKE YOURS. At least you all have a clue what you want to do with your life. I just want a crappy office job so I can save a few bucks, take a ( Read more... )

Trust me, it ain't that easy. At least with your job, and I'm honestly not trying to argue here, but at least with your's you have a moderately flexible schedule and when you're done, you're done. You don't have sandwiches you weren't able to get to piling up behind you. You don't have chili sitting on the burner for weeks at a time because you know as soon as you empty the pot you'll just have twice as much chili taking its place. You don't have middle management upon middle management. Plus you get to listen to music, drink beer (on occasion) and don't have to answer the phone all day. I'm not saying your job is glamorous, and I know it doesn't pay all that well, but trust me, you don't want my job. However, if all you truly wanted was a mundane office job and a vacation twice a year, I could hook you up.

OMG, I LOVE chili.

All you Seattlians should move to Boston for 5-7 months. You all seem to need a revolution. If you come here, I'm almost positive I can stir one up.

Totally. I mean, that's what usually happens in Boston these days. We can also always untie the Mayflower or steal Plymouth Rock. Down with history!

I know it could be worse. The hard part is when you have friends who actually ARE doing what they want to do for a living. Or when everyone in your office seems to be living their dream but you. It's a constant reminder that even though my job isn't THAT bad and I make decent money, I'm still spending 50 hours a week doing something that isn't making me happy. And there's something out there that WOULD make me happy. You only live once. And it's not for very long. So it feels like a waste.
