Saying goodbye to an old friend

I think I'm going to take a pass on watching Doctor Who next season unless something amazing happens next week.  I've been a fan for 22 years and this is the first time I've felt like that.  It's been such a big part of my life and a huge influence on me that this makes me very sad.  But the show has turned into a pantomime of itself and is ( Read more... )

When a beloved show jumps the shark, it feels like betrayal and abandonment. I don't care what anyone else says about it being "only TV". When the bottom drops out of our transport to another place where we feel comfortable and at home, it's definitely a loss to be mourned.

Surely others can't let him continue like that! Maybe it will be an aberration. Sometimes there's recovery from a nadir...

It's been on a slippery slope for a while. I thought this season was a big improvement before I saw the train wreck of bad television that was last Saturday's episode. It's as though RTD saw this:

and based his feel for the whole show on it. Sad thing is this crap little sketch was miles ahead in terms of scripting and plotting.

Watching The Sound of Shite Drums last Saturday was very akin to this incident:

I'm scarred for life now. Seriously.

What the hell?! Wow, remind me to avoid that particular episode at all costs, if these two clips are a thematic hint...*shudder*

Of course they have to turn the episodes to shit as soon as the innocent black girl comes on board...typical!

The second video with Max Headroom plays just like a typical RTD script; inane pop culture references that are slightly out of date, an incoherent plot, and childish references to sex. It's becoming more and more like Lexx each week.
