My aunt Linda got an anonymous, typed letter that claimed to be sent by one of my deceased uncle's "Methodist pastor associates". The letter claimed that this person had come by recently to check in on her but assumed she had moved because there were Obama signs in the yard. Did this person really think they were going to influence her vote? Like, in what reality did they think she would open that envelope, read the note, be ashamed and say, "aw shucks they're right, what was I thinking." Like she would walk into church the next Sunday, stand up during the announcements and tearfully thank the kindly anonymous person who helped her by being her silent conscience in her moment of liberal weakness. Do people really *think* before they put pen to paper? You just gotta shake your head and wonder. I like the idea that as Christians it's our duty to hold our brothers and sisters accountable, but sometimes you need to mind your own damn business.

When we are sure that we are right and the other person is wrong, especially when faith and politics align, then we can come up with all kinds of foolish and sinful acts to keep us busy.

I also don't think whoever did this is particularly bright, which opens them up to all kinds of bad ideas that you or I would throw out of consideration within a two-minute brainstorm of how to respond to the cognitive dissonance presented when you see a fellow Christian's yard full of signs supporting a Muslim socialist who kills babies when they're not plotting to take your guns and hard earned wages.

There are good reasons to vote for or against either McCain or Obama when you are a Christian. But the difference is how you live out your faith during the rest of your life.
