Yes, Ian...however, there comes a point when politics is not just a bunch of squabbles between old men who want to maintain pride in their views. One day one of those squabbles will result in an outcome that affects you...whether you see that outcome as justified or not. I agree that the essence of politics is absurd most of the time, but it's better to be aware of what is happening in that realm, than to be completely apathetic to it.

Politics ... do matter... unfortunately. Because in the end, it affects everyone. Unfortunately. So it's a good idea to stay informed and know where you stand. You don't have to declare. Or discuss. But sometimes, the best way to learn something new about a topic or to see a different point of view is to talk about it with someone with a different background. I mean most likely people won't change their opinion, but they may have a better understanding of topic and where the other party comes from. I guess if you don't care, you don't care. And that's fine. But I donno, I think it's interesting and informative. Half of having a good understanding on what goes on in the world is knowing what's on the news, the other half is figuring out how others perceive it and why. That's just me though.
