Let's have an update

So we're now officially home-owners once again. Last Friday, after much struggling with the legalities and horrors of home loans in Australia we got possession of the house later in the afternoon. Saturday and Sunday was mainly spent in preparation for painting, scraping down of walls, removing outlets and switches, etc. There's definitely more

I think the main thing is that we both know to keep at it one day and step at a time. Every large project seems daunting at first.

I think it will be good to have a project to focus on as I know you feel like you've kind of been stuck in a rut since you've been here.

Yes, there is hope that in a few months time I may not quite have the same levels of loathing for Australia. ;)

We just had the inspection of our new place this afternoon and we are in the same boat as far as trying to figure out what to do and what to put off.

Does a company come in and do the inspection for you, or is it basically "buyer beware"?

We paid $300 to have someone do it. Little things here and there need to be fixed. The house is structurally sound. There is a little water damage in the garage (which was a carport and looks to have been built by someone who barely knew what they were doing). Everything else is just cosmetic and needs to be fixed because we don't like the way it looks. I wish we could build the fence higher so I don't have to see our neighbors after getting a glimpse yesterday.
