The rain was upending like a waterfall and the ground was now nothing but wet sloshing mud beneath his feet. He was soaked through to the bone, his skin was covered in mud and his boots and socks were long gone.

It didn’t matter, he still fought with the guy. The two slipped this way and that as they threw punches and what would have been a display of impressive but deadly fighting and wrestling skills, looked comical as any kicks or special moves attempted, failed as they slipped over.

Jayne was victorious. There was never any doubt. He had the asshole unconscious in the mud after a particularly brutal punch to the face and now as the whole town watched from the shelter of the town’s saloon, he stood triumphant-still a little bit pissed off-- and rubbed at his arms and face, the rain washing him clean.  Well as clean as he could get.

He knew the fight happened because of her.

The Moonbrain crazy always caused trouble and it was just damned typical that she watched instead of helping him. He was pissed at Mal and the others as well, but this fight would never have happened if it wasn’t for her.

He marched up to where River Tam was sitting on the long wooden beam, swinging her legs, each step he took was difficult as he sunk further into the mud. When he reached her, he snarled but River just smiled back at him and took a long suck on the straw in her pale white drink.

Her eyes widened as she sucked again, looking over Jayne with a dark lustful and lurid glare. Of course she started the fight. She wanted him to be like this; wet, muddy, pantin’ for breath….it was turning her on. Man all grubby like he was, sweating and bloodied too…course it was getting her wet.

“You happy now?” he sneered, leaning into her. “Gettin’ yer kicks watchin’ that, Crazy?”

River sucked even harder on the straw, the coconut drink disappearing from the glass until the last remains made loud slurping sounds.

Jayne didn’t need to be a mind reader to know that her instigation of the fight was only the beginning.
