The demolition of Whitaker Park makes me terribly sad. It seems like everyone i know has lived there at some point. Personally, i loved living there. The neighborhood was a vibrant mix of working class folks, young professionals, and artistic types -- exactly my kind of place. Hell, i even loved the floor grates and the temperamental window units, as i found them sort of endearing in their cranky age.
With Whitaker Park going, that area is changing dramatically. In my opinion, it's lost something vital to the overall character of the neighborhood.
