On a tangent, last summer I met two people whose Japanese-Amurrikin grandfathers--from Idaho and Wyoming respectively, I think--had had the surreal experience of seeing other Japanese-Americans from the West Coast put in camps while they looked on (literally) from the other side of the barbed wire. I don't know what the chances were of meeting the descendants of probably approximately 100 percent of the Japanese resident in those states, but not very good I'd guess.
