Gah, I just saw Paris Hilton's music video. What a joke and a rip off of Chris Isaak's Wicked Game music video, the sexiest and saddest music video to ever air during the 80's.
That's what I thought too, but I figured someone would try to correct me if I was wrong so I looked it up and it said 1989 was when that song first came out.
ahh.. i know the answer to this one. the album was probably released in '89. but "wicked game" became popular in '90/'91 because it was used in a movie that was heavily promoted.. so the song was EVERYWHERE. esp that awesome video on mtv. oh the days when my tv was set on mtv, when they played videos more than reality shows.
this single sold that album... cuz it wasn't doing very well when it was first released.
kinda like how dido's album didn't sell very well til a year to two years later after eminem sampled "thank you."
music was my life back then.. can you tell? hehe. now i can hardly even keep up with what's current. lol.
The album was released on June 13, 1989 to be exact. I originally thought it came out in 90/91 too because I remember the video very clearly as a kid haha. The song and video is still very haunting to this day. What movie was that song in?
Chris Isaak was actually pretty popular before the song, just not to the mainstream MTV crowd. It's the same with Dido. I knew about her before her song was sampled because she was well received by the hiphop crowd, the same with Portishead, Olive, and Esthero. It's probably why Eminem sampled her.
oh my god still one of my favorite songs that's on rotation on my iPod. it definitely is one of the sexiest videos ever. some guy i used to have a crush on used to sing it karaoke at a bar and it used to make me go crazy.
