Menu Planning and Stuff

How I currently do menu planning is less ... rigid than how I did menu planning before we were in the process of buying our house. It's getting a bit more formalized again, but not a whole lot. What I tend to do is a loose breakfast/lunch plan (ie: I know I will eat cereal 3 times and eggs once and a bagel with bananas 3 times ... plus one alternate for each) and a more formalized dinner plan. I use Google Calendar for just about everything else in my life, so dinner is no exception. I tend to do a general, "Main Dish" subject with additional information and/or links to recipes in the "Note" section of the event. Using the Google Calendar also means I can make adjustments on the fly--changing "Mac and Cheese" to "Take Out" when unexpected, dinner won't happen events come up.

After I have my base plan, I make my grocery list and go shopping. If I'm together enough, sometimes I will look at the coupon books or sales fliers before I plan out the menu for the week--or at least before I go to the grocery store, and tweak things--to try to capture good prices for things. This is part of the reason that main dishes tend to be planned more in advance than sides. And that is basically it.

In other news: got on a scale for the first time since we started the whole "moving" thing... I weigh less now than the last time I checked in. Not a lot less, but less! It has sort of re-motivated me to get my butt back to working out.

... That is all.
