Well, this has been a helluva week.

And Wednesday just started.

Saturday and Sunday were spent at a trade show in Albert Lea with Clann Tartan. It was a lot of driving for a lady who was not feeling 100% about driving her car that kind of distance shortly after having it in for repair in the first place. I'm very glad I went, but the weather on Sunday was ... fun.

Monday, I learned that my healthier Grandma had a stroke. But she had it on Saturday and didn’t bother to tell anyone--like, y'know, my Mom, who lives with her and has worked in health care for so many years that she knows the symptoms of stroke very well. Luckily it was a very minor stroke, but still a bit of a shocker. I think the Mr. was more aware of what was really going on than I was, or I was just willfully blind about what those symptoms stood for when my Mom told me what was going on. I went to be with her at the hospital for a few hours after work on Monday to spell my Mom and just hang out--mostly, I was projecting my intense dislike of hospitals on my Grandma and didn't want her to have to be there by herself more than was necessary. Of course, this means various and sundry other projects at our house didn't get done and I didn't spend the anniversary of my father's death with my sister, as has become our habit. Oh, yeah--that part didn't help the stress levels, either.

Yesterday was a fun day, but enough things were up in the air most of the day ("is Grandma being discharged today? did she improve overnight? will she have major side effects from the stroke that weren't apparent on Monday?") kicked the stress level up a notch. Because it was fun that involved other people, I also did not get many house projects done.

So, we start Wednesday. We are hosting a meeting at our house, and it’s a pit. I’m pretty sure I won’t get my act together in time to pull off any kind of Valentine’s Day awesome for the Mr. and that makes me more than a little sad. Given that Thursday is now my best chance to get some housework done before my out-laws come for the weekend (!!!), I might just get to spend the holiday trying to de-funk the house so that it is in an acceptable level of filthy. I would say it could be put off until Friday, but I don’t know how much of the cleaning I’ll actually be able to get done in one afternoon after work, so….

Of course, the good news is that my Grandmother is (mostly) fine. The trip to Albert Lea went well. I had time to do some crafting with my sister-out-law. And our home is enjoyed by enough people that we get to host events and have overnight company. So really, it’s not all bad. I guess I just needed to vent.
