Elementary hypothesis
Hypothesis: Irene is Moriarty.
Moriarty tells Sherlock if he wants Moriarty out of his life, don't go to the house. He goes to the house and there's Irene. It answers the question of why Moriarty is so interested in Sherlock. It also corresponds to Watson's gender flip and Sherlock's subbiness to the women around him.
I think it could be glorious.
