The first lightning-sparked forest fire of the season, 50 hectares. It's about 10 or 15k from camp, on the top of the first ridge across the river. We had a thunderstorm come through here and set it off on Monday or Tuesday.
No one seems especially concerned, so I'm not worried. :) It looked pretty spectacular last night - in the first pic you can just barely see some flames in the centre, and the second one made me think of the ash clouds coming out of a volcano.
it's *hot* up here.
