after looking intently at the Mazda3, i spent a little more money than i should've and went with something a little less practical:

2006 4x4 Ford Ranger XLT Super-Cab (2-door)
4.0L single-overhead V6
Automatic Trans, A/C, cruise-control, class-III tow package
