018 - let it all fall off

Holy shit, this snow's been crazy. And I was just talking about how I didn't really care for snow all that much. Like it just fine, but a July blizzard? Fuck that.

You've been to Russia? Where, in particular?

Every nation has its low points. The Soviet Union -- once and again Russia, I believe -- was never the most kindhearted of places to live, but in the end, I wouldn't have traded it for any other. Women and men fought side by side against winter, against enemies, and solidarity breeds in such places. Now, I believe your country is a more equal one?

It was years ago, when I was a kid. I know I went to Moscow and St. Petersburg... And, not sure if I'm spelling this right, Novosibirsk? It was a concert tour when I was part of an orchestra.

I've heard a lot about Russian folk, a lot like what you're saying. Very personal people, prideful, always helping those cut of the same cloth. Not something you see here. The States are a bit more equal, or, at the very least, there's less disparity between social classes. Very... gradual curve, rather than just being the haves and the have-nots.

Independence, even if it's just the concept of it, is worth celebrating.

Absolutely. Though why we tend to celebrate it with fireworks and barbecues is beyond me. Not gonna complain, however.

Maybe because they're uniquely American things?

I guess so. I mean, I've seen fireworks outside the States, so I guess it never occurred to me.
