Sometimes I wish I could write thought provoking prose, and text, and poems, and LJ entries ( Read more... )

You have all the stress and normal duties of your job...

then you have stupid tweens and teens to deal with I think.
From the very few minutes I've spent with kids who frequent your library system (yes I know not specifically yours necessarily but...)...they would make my day very stressful too. Even being in the same room as them is probably bad.

We've got Robert the worry-wart: comes up to me everytime he thinks there's something wrong. Which is frequently.
Then there's Patrick: he likes to annoy you by doing everything he can wrong, but just on the side of not being wrong . . . so you can't yell at him.
Then there's the little Hispanic girl who can't speak English, but hacks into our Kids Corner computer and accesses the internet when there is no icon on the screen.
Then there's the little eight year old girl who comes in almost everyday and you have to almost chase her out at the end of the night--she always wants something printed.
Then . . .
well, you get my drift. I'm not even going to mention the kids who are 13+ who want to be on the Kids computer downstairs, which are for 12 and under. Or how the teens come in with their hoodies on and give you guff 'cause they need on the 'puter'. blah.

I understand...entirely. Well not entirely, but I'm familiar with the age group and I think you have some particularly bad ones.

As of late...they like to connect to homework help, but not need any help...and call me a dummy because I keep asking them if they need help. And I'm polite and ask them lots because...I can't just kick them off. So then they eventually curse at me so I can end it.

I got to work Homework Help once, down in Ready Reference. It wasn't just me (which was sad) but I got to ask the kids questions...and you know what? They're snots to us when they're a floor above us. Kids stink.
But it's the parents I dislike the most.

I think you're afraid of writing because you don't want to lose one of the hobbies that you love. Kinda like your music. You loved it, and then when you were totally immersed in it, you disliked it so much that it was a chore for you.

The wonderful thing about being younger is that your always marketable. So, if one job doesn't work out, you can always find another. (Well hopefully, the bad economy and such.)

Smile AnnieBananie...things will get better.

You have to have skills to be marketable.
This is what I lack.

Ahh see, I think that is where you are wrong. I had no office experience before I got this job. All I could do was type real fast. :P

And remember, the magic number is 1 year. Any job that you have for at least a year lets you talk about any and all "skills" that you can possess. If that makes any sense.

Irony? It's been 1 year today I've been full time at Southeast.
