Why do idiots breed?
I mean this in a literal way. Why do idiots breed??
Here's the back story: I have several people that I was acquainted with during high school added as friends on my myspace page. Having the tendency to be often bored, I occasionally pop on over to said acquaintances' pages to look at pictures and whatnot.
Many of the people from my class or from the class that graduated after mine have been having children. Now this is all fine and dandy, so long as they are willing to take care of said children.
Now, what's setting me off on this rather negative rant is simply this: I saw a picture of an infant, in Claire's, getting her ears pierced by some lacky while she's sitting there screaming her head off. WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU TAKE YOUR INFANT TO CLAIRE'S TO HAVE HER EARS PIERCED BY AN UNTRAINED TEENAGER WHO IS USING AN INSTRUMENT THAT CANNOT BE STERILIZED?!?!?! Serious people, do some research to save your child some trauma. Little alcoholic wipes do NOT remove all of the fleshy residue that has managed to find its way into the recesses of the "reusable" piercing gun. They do NOT disinfect. They cause massive trauma to the earlobe (yes you can fuck those up royally), not to mention...how do you not know if your baby has a nickel allergy?! Every piece of jewelry from Claires is utter shit, and almost all of it contains some trace of nickel. Also, butterfly backs do NOT allow for swelling...ask my sister. She had to have a set of those bitches surgically removed from her ears...and she was "taking care" of hers (the recommended spin the water "solution" into her ears, than tighten the backs...wtf?) at the age of 8. *headdesk headdesk*
Basically, I was looking through someone's baby folder on myspace, and saw a sad little series of photos that was the "piercing" experience of this girls poor little 5 month old baby. FIVE MONTHS OLD. What do babies like to do at 5 months? They usually like to pull on their ears. So basically this person had inadvertently introduced her infant to potential infection/hepatitis, introduced her to blunt trama, put something in her ears that do not allow for swelling (which can cause massive pain if it gets out of hand, not to mention the itchies), may have put something in her body which she could possibly be allergic to, and of course if any of these things flare up, the little one will just scream and tug on them, making things worse. I'm sure she'll also be crawling soon, which just introduces a whole new ball game of germy fun...
The poor little thing. She didn't even have mom to hold her through this. It was mom's friend or an aunt or something. Of course the after pics showed the poor little kid screaming, completely red in the face.
Please, PLEASE...for the love of all things precious...if you ever have children, do NOT do this to them. I don't care if you had your ears pierced as an infant by a gun at Claire's. Just because you turned out fine doesn't mean that its right and your child will get lucky as well >.<
