My ex-managers at Edgefield have been asking about me via ex-co workers/friends, and have IN A VERY ROUNDABOUT PASSIVE WAY.......asking if I have any plans to return.

Not even going to front, I miss the money. I miss my clients. I miss the property. I miss easy access to Eminence products. I miss my fellow technicians.

Sigh. Should I go crawling back ( Read more... )

Well Rebecca was like "yeah she misses it." And changed the subject real quick. It's not her place to speak of what I want and don't want in a career.....but I will say, I was making close to $25/hour there. That is what is making me think about going back.

Why not look for something equally as awesome closer to you?

Oh, I have. It's hard to find a place that was paying as much as Edgefield did. For what I do, I made decent money there when I checked my taxes. The places around my side of town want to start me at $11/hour and I only get paid when I have appointments. Or some arrangement similar to that. I was making almost $25/hr at Edgefield. I told them I would organize a nice opening and send out personal invites to clients, among other things, and they didn't think it was necessary.

There is a whole bunch of little information that is too long to type out, but bottom line, they want me back and I might be able to wiggle my way into something bigger if I had a meeting with the managers. I ( ... )

The PDX area not paying well really doesn't surprise me. I took a 30% pay raise switching to Boston, and only a 4% pay decrease switching to remote. PDX isn't all that competitive for nationwide salary stuff. Plenty of struggling young adults to lean on I guess.

Sounds like it's worth going for. How bad is the commute? You're in NOPO can you just hop over the hills on one of the side roads?

Maybe you can also adjust your schedule so as you dodge traffic. At my last job in downtown PDX I told them I would be starting at 9:30 AM, which made a huge difference for traffic as I'd hit the rush area hour at 9:15am.
