Seriously. 2 posts over the last 19 months. It's not like nothing's going on.

I did notice that out of my LJ Friends, only you, Xray and Novak showed up on the feed. Nice to see y'all are keeping it going.

Borrowed the "His Majesty's Dragon" series (first 3 books) from my dad and about to get that started. Thanks for the recommendation, I think he's already on book five.

I've never read those Novik books myself. Pretty sure Martha has, so I imagine the recommendation came from her.

In a state of flux. My two-year contract at Loyola University New Orleans finished in May, and so I've been up at my sister's for the last month. Not sure where I'm going to end up: I've still got a couple of late possibilities for next year in Baton Rouge, Philadelphia (UPenn's been scouting me out for a freshman honors program) and upstate New York. If that doesn't work out, I can probably find some local adjunct or high school sub work and just work on my publishing for the year. It's been a bit humbling. Had a big hunk of my face cut off from a skin cancer that supposedly had been dealt with five years ago, but instead had just been covered over and allowed to grow all this time. That was just before Christmas, so I went through a series of reconstructive surgeries over the spring semester, and am reasonably patched now, but that's been some adjustment. In the meantime, I'm recovering a bit more, writing some, and doting on my nieces.

So: family and lawyering. What's up?
