1. Total Number of Books

No idea. 50, maybe 100 max.

2. The Last Book I bought

Well, it was a three-for-one at Waterstones- The Narrows by Michael Connelly (v. good), The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams (see below for no doubt 'incorrect' opinion), Pompeii by Robert Harris (only read about 30 pages so far).

3. The Last Book ( Read more... )

Crichton annoys me because most of his books have an interesting concept, develop strongly, then suddenly tail off and end within about three pages. Take "Sphere" or "The Terminal Man" for example. He doesn't quite get to page 300 and write "Suddenly he woke up, it had all been a dream, the end kthxbye" but it's close.

His best one is probably "Airframe", which is odd considering it doesn't have dinosaurs or aliens or serial killers.

I never read Sphere for some reason, though I agree with what you're saying about everything else.

Also, the shite spouted above makes it look like Jurassic Park is my favourite book ever- it's not, it just got me into reading properly (c.f. moving your mouth with the words and following the lines with your finger) and though I still like it a lot, it's not "The Bestest Book I Ever Read". I'm not even sure what is.
