I've never been to one of those elbow-in-the-guts and mad body slamming type of shoes. I like going to shoes where people act at least somewhat civilized.
Sometimes crowds can be so civilized they're bordering on bland, and that's bad too - but an entirely different story.
I've been to a bunch. There are always places to go for people who don't want to be pushed and kicked around. Jesus, if they were all fucking slugfests I wouldn't be able to go at all cause I'm kinda fragile. You're right about the "so civilized they border on bland", I've been to those too. Blech.
Yeah, I know what you mean. Some singer/songwriter stuff can be boring beyond belief.
Randy and Chris Bowser are very much into the female singer/songwriter thing (and I'm more into the 'sensitive male singer/songwriter sad-bastard'thing)and I've been to a couple of preformances that made my ass hurt sitting in that chair.
I'm even finding that rockshows just don't deliver. I thought it was me. I thought I was getting old. Then I compared audiences some shows. I saw Foo Fighters and most people were my age and it was lovely. I saw a U2 and most people were my age and older and it was also lovely. I saw some newer "not famous yet" bands with my seventeen year old sister and hated it. It's audience what does it. Young people just attend concerts differently. It's like they heard about what concerts USED to be like and are trying (and failing) to copy it.
