On the porch of the mansion can be found two identical men, one sitting on the railing, the other on the bench below him, both smoking identical thin cigarettes. Locke comes strolling outside, looking whole and healthy, if somewhat preoccupied, and then he notices the twins and grins, and he looks every inch the Locke Lamora they know. Practice pays off.

The relief at that is almost palpable. "Locke!" Galdo calls and they grin. "Aren't you supposed to still be looking like shit? What happened?"

Locke grins back. "Trade secret," lightly, and he strolls over and sits down next to them, then tosses them a sidelong, slightly rueful look. "In other words, don't ask. I think I found someone to cheat my money back that I lost to you two last time, though."

There are two identical raised eyebrows, but they don't.

They both grin wolfishly though when he mentions a potential mark, Calo especially. "So he's no good at cards, then?"

And here's a 19th century French doctor, coming back from the stables. He might have been noticed on his way back, riding a sturdy percheron, and now that the beast is done with its exercise, he's going back inside, to continue his work.

He'll nod at the pair absently as he goes across the patio.

They nod back politely, watching him pass and still smoking their cigarettes. They're still being careful about who they talk to and how.

They watch him walk straight into the door, and do not snicker. They're too good at what they do for that. "Are you all right, sir?" one calls for politeness's sake.
