Google has been doing it for the day. It was weird to go over there and everything was black.

I wonder what everyone will do in the dark for that hour... :)

Nah, but you could try to do an hour with minimal power use to try it. I got a few ideas on what I could do by trying it.

1) Battery Power is your friend. My cellphone is a good flashlight. My sonic toothbrush still works just fine on battery. And I used my rechargeable batteries in a florescent hurricane lamp to take a shower, (yes, used cooler than normal water for my shower, water heaters are huge energy suckers).

2) Run errands at night. You don't need the lights on at home if you're not there. lol. And it's much cooler outside so you don't need to run your car's air conditioner.

What I love about all this, is people are finding ways to be more efficient. This is lead to technology break-thourghs in a lot of strange places. For instance, a man figured out how to capture the shape (exact angle and spiral) of water going down the drain. This has led to 37% more energy efficient fan design and it's being put into things like refrigerators to ship propellers! Awesome! ^^

You could always try doing an hour on as little power as possible on another day. I think it's good experience (and far less painful than a blackout or a brownout!) -^

Oh okay, we started Daylight Saving Time earlier.
They didn't have an organized Earth Hour there?
We didn't here, but I wanted to do it anyway. ^^

No. This was in March, not April Fools. The first one was in Sydney last year, and this year they took it international. It may be even bigger next year.
