Zodiac Sign / Description: While not the most common sign for Gryffindors to be born under, the combination of Gryffindor aims with Capricorn traits results in wizards who are exceptionally well balanced. For once, here are Gryffindors who will not go charging off on quests without first making thorough preparations and arranging for backup. They are resourceful, well grounded, and self confident, hard workers, and extremely reliable. You can always trust a Gryffindor Capricorn's word; they will not only mean it when they say they will do something, they will follow through successfully. House Prefects often come from this sign, because they are responsible, good students, and natural leaders. What many people forget about the Capricorn is that although they are part goat, they are also part mermaid. Personal History: Bastian had a hard childhood. His father would leave him, his mother, and his brother for months at a time. When he would come back home, he would be drunk on Firewhiskey, and very violent. Many times, his father beat his mother, then went looking for Bastian's younger brother Matthias. In an effort to protect his brother, Bastian would offer himself as compensation to his father, doing his father's will. Often, this was quite unpleasant.
His mother was a loving and doting mother to he and his brother. When his father wasn't around, they were the picture of a perfect family. His mother was not a typical Pureblood elitist, so he grew up feeling that blood didn't matter as much as character.
Despite the fact that his father was a horrible father, Bastian got out of the rut that he was probably expected to be put into. He never told anyone about his childhood -- as far as all his friends and everyone besides Matthias and his brother know, his father was a decent man who was just missing quite a bit. When he got to Hogwarts, he was almost instantly put into Gryffindor.
His years at Hogwarts have been relatively normal. He stays out of trouble for the most part, though he gets into a couple scrapes and detentions with his plans that he makes. Hey, a guy's got to have a little bit of fun in the castle, right?
Personality: Some people come through abuse as beaten-down and uncommunicative. Bastian, however, took the opposite route on his personality. He's a very friendly and outgoing guy, feeling that people should feel comfortable around him. He loves to smile and hates any kind of drama or angst. In fact, he tends to try and shirk away from drama and general seriousness whenever he can.
He loves to please people, sometimes to his own expense. He isn't very good with confrontations and prefers to attempt other ways of getting through issues than through fighting.
He's a hopeless romantic, and would be much more likely to plan out an elaborate dinner/dance in the confines of his own quarters than to take someone out somewhere. He doesn't feel like he's got much charm, in terms of women, but that's because he hasn't actually ever had experience with them when it comes to relationships. The majority of his friends are female, because he tends to be able to hang out with them and have fun with them. He doesn't feel like he has something to prove.
Physical Description: Bas has deep blue eyes and crisp, smooth-looking features. His blonde hair is kept at an average length, and much of the time is worn slightly messy. He works hard to keep himself looking good, having been brought up to feel that appearance is important. He stands at 5'11". He has a medium build, neither thin nor fat. He has this one habit of biting his lip, which he does when he's nervous, thinking, or worried about something. He also has a great lopsided grin that gets shown to the world a lot.

1. Musical - Bas plays the piano and sings, though... he's not the best singer in the world. He should probably stick with just piano-playing, but he enjoys singing along to his music.
2. Flying - He's always had an interest in flying and Quidditch, though the reason that he likes to play Quidditch is because it's a sport that involves flying.
Weaknesses:
1. Stubborn - That Gryffindor streak; if Bas thinks that he's right, he will argue the point to the ground. If he thinks something needs to be broken down, he will continue on that track of thought until the horse is dead and beaten to a pulp.
2. People-pleaser - Bastian doesn't like people to be unhappy, so he always goes out of his way to cheer people up.
3. Light-hearted - He doesn't like serious situations. He doesn't like to have to handle them, he doesn't like the things that come with it, so he shys away from them as best he can.
4. Rash - Bas doesn't always think through his decisions before he acts on them.
5. Emotional Detachment - While Bas is a friendly and outgoing guy, when it comes to actual emotional attachment, he has issues. For that reason, he's never had a romantic relationship; he hasn't felt that he has anything of worth to bring women in that department. Do you think your character is capable of successfully employing a Cruiciatus Curse? Why or why not? Capable... yes. Willing... no. He's been through a lot of stuff in his life, and some of that stuff involved pain. He wouldn't put anyone through that by his own hand.
Describe how your character would react, in the form of a sample RP, if faced with a Dementor.
The black shape sped toward him, and he could feel the cold coming over him. But he was a fighter, and he wouldn't just let the Dementor take his soul, take his happiness. Oh, no, there was no way that he would just fall down. He stood, his wand firmly in his hand, as the creature came closer.
He could feel the bad memories creeping into his thoughts, making him wince. He had a lot of them, but they wouldn't overtake his good memories. Happy memories. Memories of his mother, and his little brother... memories of his friends and the people that he loved.
There was one memory in particular.
Mustering up all of his strength as he caught sight of the hand, scaly and dark, that reached out for him, he focused on that one memory. The memory of he and Andra, in their first year. No, not just their first year, but the first time on the train. That memory? Probably one of the happiest ones that he had. He focused on it and yelled, "Expecto Patronum!"
