I think you're already leaving

I thought this place was an empire

*grins* Y'all could always move to TN...

But that's neither here nor there. I just wanted to tell ya - remember, some roots are worth keeping - they just get longer, and harder to maintain, but they nonetheless provide something vital.

After all - we've managed to keep in touch a /long/ time. I, for one, wouldn't have it any other way.. it could be that one or two of your friends there are the same kind of friend, if given a chance.

*snugs* It's an /adventure/. :)

I think TN has as much potential as CNY right now, which is to say the pickin's are MIGHTY slim. Yeesh.

Some roots are worth keeping and I will try to nurture those as much as possible (irishfury, Kevyn, Carol C., Bob, and Tom, being amongst the primary candidates). The rest will likely fall by the wayside.

You and I have manged to keep in touch for a long time, but with very large chunks of "MIA" in between. I hate that - can we make sure that never happens again? :P

And some of the crowd (alemya; mountainwitch; lgerrietts/ggerietts; a couple of my other B'burg folks (Mandy/Eric and Melanie); my life-long best friend from my home town, Tarra; one of my closest friends in jr. high and high school, Amanda; one the guys I dated in late high school, Chris; and two of my bestest-buddies in college, Jen and Beth) all keep in touch with me, regardless of where I am or what I'm doing now. Others have tried (and of the ones who have, I have either been too busy at the time to respond and thus lost the connection) or wasn't interested in maintaining that friendship, ( ... )

California's not the best bet now. Employment out here is pretty sparse, with a big pool of competition. So you seem likely to get your way.

Can we talk you guys into looking into moving in the NC area since you have expressed some unhappiness with your current position or are things stable enough there to not make moving worth your while?

We'd love to see you guys a lot more often... like bi-weekly. ;)

*hugs*

Honestly? I don't think so. We talked about it at one point, but not seriously.

I'm not convinced that the RTP area is going to be better than the Bay area at this point. The problem is the same in all the tech hot spots: a newfound lack of employers, and a whole lot of people with good-looking resumes.

And even were things dramatically better, I don't think it's likely we'd want to move to the southeast. Boston, maybe but unlikely; Toronto and Vancouver are more likely candidates. But I don't see us leaving California unless we need to; the culture is right out here.

Yo, hey, VA or NC is just fine by me . . . :) Seriously, NC puts you only about 2 hours away! Getting to DC takes longer It's not a perfect setup, but damn, it's not too shabby either!

ROFL.

Thanks for the vote of enthusiasm! *grin*

Yeah, NC would be nice, but we will see what happens; this is still about 9-12 months away, if all goes well.

When are we getting together over the 4th?
