Bizarre that in this day and age of tremendous technological growth anyone thinks they can project 1,000 years into the future, let alone 100,000. We should have human germ-line engineering by then, so it may not really be up to natural selection.

Well, exactly. That was why I put "evolutionary theorist" in inverted commas! In a hundred years' time parents might be able to choose what their children look like.
