Had a bit of a messed up weekend. I had bought a ticket to go see The Watchmen at the IMAX in Redding on Saturday night, but didn't feel all that well so I ended up skipping on it. Part of it was having a stuffed up head and headache, part of it was an unwillingness to leave the front door. Usually, I have no problem driving down to ( Read more... )

Does that universal remote work well with Comcast (if you have them)?

Re the furnace. At least this heat outage didn't include a heavy coating of ice.

They've made one swipe through the neighborhood. I just know that if I go out and clear things up, I'll hear the dreaded snowplow chugging and scraping it's way up the hill. *sigh*

Yeah, it works perfectly with the Comcast box. Basically you set up what you use for each activity. With mine, if I want to watch TV, I click on the screen "Watch TV" and it turns on my projector, my A/V received (and sets it on the TV setting) and the Comcast box. If I decide to watch a DVD, I click "Watch DVD" and it switches the receiver to the DVD setting, turns on the DVD player and switches off the Comcast box.

Everything is set up and you can tweak it further if every button doesn't work exactly right, which I had to do for the Netflix box. But it's all drop down menus and easy to do.

Bought it through Crutchfield for $180 with a coupon that I found online. A bit pricey I guess, but well worth it.

For a hundred eighty clams, it ought to pull in every pay channel for free, make brownies AND slice cheese! Bit expensive for my budget, so, I'll admire from afar.

I was wondering about the other night- you really didn't post anything. But yeah, sometimes you just want to say fuck it and not spend 3+ hours driving back and forth.

Glad the furnace was a relatively easy fix. Seems old man winter is a bit playful today- we've been getting snow/freezing rain all day here.

I was looking into that box for you for Christmas but at the time they were having some problems with it, plus work dried up. Glad you got one. I certainly sounds like it would beat having to send DVDs back and forth.

Yeah, I just couldn't deal with it. Still want to see the movie though....

The box works great. Now, not every film is available for instant viewing, but it's nice to have a back up list of stuff that I can watch when I feel like it.

More things to keep me home, I guess.....
