You're kidding, right?

Thursday, while waiting for lab, my instructor came up to me and a handful of other students. He was holding some form of battery with two leads, and a dial where he could control the voltage. If you took hold of these two leads, you were given a shock ( Read more... )

Yeah; at that point, I'd have kicked into angry mode and told him "no, it just proves that women are smarter than men - they can watch someone do something stupid without having to do it themselves to prove how moronic it is."

seriously though; talk to someone about it. Humboldt is bassackwards enough; it doesn't need that kind of help.

It took about a minute for my brain to kick into angry mode, and by then it was too late. For the first minute I was just replaying it, and trying to find some other meaning, since nobody could possibly be this...underdeveloped.

anger mode kicks in for me instantly, one of the downsides of being a Scorpio is that I'm ok, until its a personal attack or an attack on a friend/family member, then I get angry, and you won't like me when I'm angry. 'giggles at the quote reference'

The hardest part is I can't come up with anything witty to say unless I'm in the moment...prolly something along the lines of what katie said, only a bit different, "ok, that's fair. Men are stupid and women are weak...

oh please, PLEASE tell me what this teacher's name is!?

I thought about this a bit today. You need to report it. He might lose his job, but he is NOT a good teacher if he can't keep his own personal opinions that don't even pertain to the day's lesson out of the classroom.

He REALLY needs to be taught that a woman does have power, and there isn't a better way to do that than report him.

If I'm available the next time you have that class, you should come pick me up first so I can join in on the class as an "observer" and if he asks, I'll say, "I want to see if you're worthy to teach me"

HAHA

Definately report him.
He also may not have been allowed to shock students for fun--voluntary or not.

I've been shocked many times in my life and I do not like it in any form, voltage, or amperage; I would not consider myself any less manly for refusing your instructor's offer. (I find contests designed to prove a persons manhood to be distasteful). Little boys playing with toys, how cute. Who was this instructor, and what does he teach?

I hit the link for commentary meaning to say pretty much what the first commenter said, but I was, sadly, beaten to it. I don't think you should feel too badly about causing this guy to lose his job; saying what he did was highly inappropriate, foolish, thoughtless, and completely lacking in the wit department.

Em's right. This asshole needs reporting. It's one thing if it's a "reference" made by a close friend, who you have that kind of repitoire with, and you KNOW their joking. But for a teacher to joke about that; even if he's a close personal friend...that's not cool.

If you're worried he'll find out and your grade will suffer, and it does, then take that to the department chair, and if that's him, to the actual administration. But you shouldn't worry about being immediately pegged for it; he won't be able to prove it was you, since you stated that it had been said in the computer lab, and while it is desolate in there this semester, from what I saw, anyone there could have heard and reported him for it.

*hugs* And if that doesn't help, next time I'm down, you can take me and Em and we'll thrash him six or seven new assholes.
