Saturday night was Kevin's birthday. The party itself was Hawaiian themed, and we dressed accordingly. I found a cute shirt with flowers, and Sam scored a silk one. I had a great time, although I missed seeing psycophant.

Near the end of the evening, Kevin and Rachel did fire poi, which was very lovely. Of course this had to be done outside, so Sam went to the car and bought back my jacket. All was well.

At about midnight, we departed. Sam unlocked my door, and I asked, "What's all this crap on my seat?" A bottle cap, some trash from the floor, and a sour candy tin from the shelf between seats.

It hits me - Where's my purse? I had left it in the car, under the seat, so I wouldn't lose it at the party, or forget it. I can't find my purse. It's not there. All the doors were locked, and still are, but my purse is gone. Sam looks around, and the only other thing missing is the pretty much broken LED that was used to light up the dash.

I take a few minutes of well deserved freak-out time on the sidewalk. Sam looks around to see if they just took my money, and threw the purse. They didn't. Sam gets me in the car, so we can drive to his house. I wasn't really down with moving productively at the moment.

Purse Contained: Wallet, lip balm, compact, watch, pins, pocket knife, 1 gig flash drive (which I just remembered, and now I'm crying in the CR lab... x_X), cell phone, keys, the moonstone necklace from my father, the crystal/garnet necklace from my mother, which I had hung on the chain from Blaine.

Wallet Contained: $80 cash, Visa card (only $500 limit), Blockbuster card, Costco card, Social Security number, ID card, insurance card, little "If Found, Contact" card, Victora's Secret card ($1,000 limit), pictures from my friends - autographed ones from Janine, phone card number, various receipts, and other notes.

I arrive back at Sam's house, and call mom to wake her up. She has the same credit card as I do, and can give me the 1-800 number on the back of it. Plus the Credit Union number, so I can get a new card issued. I call Visa, and get a stop put on my card. The thief couldn't have had it for more than an hour or so. By this time it's nearly 1AM.

Twenty minutes later, mom calls me. She says the Longs Drug Store in Arcata has my wallet, and someone tried to use my card.

Sam and I book it up there. The two employees were incredibly nice to me. Apparently it was a woman who looked about 25 years old, with obviously bleached platinum blond hair, and a gray UC Davis sweatshirt. She had a friend, and together they brought up about $100 worth of crap to the counter. The checkout guy asked for ID, she said she didn't have it, and would be back later for the stuff. She just left the wallet, and walked out with the credit card (which wouldn't have gone through, anyway).

Of course the checkout guy opens the wallet, and there's an ID. My ID. Obviously not her. Looking farther, they find the "If Found, Please Call" card with all of my contact info on it. She didn't even take it out. The woman had been in there before, and got away with charging $400 on a credit card when she "lost" her ID. The employees were super pissed, now that they're sure she stole it. They even have video of her walking around the store.

I got to look at all the crap she was going to buy, too. Apparently the face of evil is butt ugly. There were two boxes of hair dye (changing your identity..?), one highlight kit, fake nails, eyelash curler, makeup bag, and a box of CheezIts. A few other more mundane things like paper cups, and paper towels. They let me have her receipt, so I'll scan that and post it soon.

If she comes in again, they're just calling the police on sight. I went through my wallet while I was there, and she took out my pictures, money, all notes, Kristian's business card (it had important numbers!), my Hot Topic punch cards, and my Costco card.

Of all the cards to take, she kept the Costco one! The only one she can't possibly hurt me with. Hell, let her have the discount Baking Soda.

I spent a while yesterday trying to make a police report, but I failed at all attempts. I'm going to try again today. Sunday = not such a good day for police, apparently. There's the video of her at Longs, the fact that the employees say she's done this before, she didn't just take a purse, she broke into someone's car, and frankly she moved EVERYTHING around in my wallet, so if the cops care to look, the cards are totally covered with fingerprints (I haven't touched them, since getting the wallet back). I'm not sure if anything will be done, but I can hope.

What hurts the most is the loss of my jewelry. It has high sentimental value. Also, the cheapest phone I can get from Sprint is $150 (I checked when I put a stop on my number). Not to mention my now lost flash drive. I worked very hard for that piece of hardware, and was quite proud of it.
