I can never decide if life at school is better or worse than life in the "real world". The real world is one of those mysterious places that one hears about frequently but finds hard to book a ticket to. I'm on a hamster wheel of schoolwork. I used to say treadmill, but I think "hamster wheel" more effectively expresses the contempt that the system shows me on a daily basis. So it turns out that not working pays somewhat less than working. The irony being, of course, that I routinely do more work at school than I ever did at work. It's much harder to try to scale back a life than it ever is to learn to spend more. Spending more comes naturally. It comes without really thinking about it. Sometimes my life feels like a series of odd battles fought for no real purpose.
