th-thank you ; u; i really ought to find some happier subject material, but sadfics are just easier for me to write. (i suppose this says something about me, lol)
That was beautiful; I loved it sososo much. I'm a Wally fangirl at heart, and his story touched me the moment I learned of it; I was ten years old, playing Pokemon Ruby, and... I think some little part of me fell in love with his character.
This story was wonderfully written. Your style is lyrical and leaves a lasting impression. I love the repetition with Wally's mother, and his worsening illness during those little flashbacks.
lol not to creep you out or anything but i think i'm your biggest fan because this is LOVELY. :D you manage a striking economy of words, which is a gift that i envy because i think it's always more difficult to evoke an image with sparing language as opposed to lush, overdone language. you do it so well, it feels like each word in your story is chosen very carefully (perfect example: "But to him, every hour, every minute, every moment is a thousand times lovelier than the last." SO GREAT.) this is also one of the few instances where the mechanism of writing letters was really effective and touching; a lot of times in fanfics i think it can be inappropriate or overdone, so well done. derp i'm going to stop rambling now, thanks for the read! XD
This is very appropriately tragic for his character, I think. In the pokemon games, I always feel like there is this thin coat of pixie dust that never lets you get close to the reality of that world since you're always so focused on what you're doing and - Wally really suffers throughout the game doesn't he? And he takes it much better than most of the other rival characters.
But this is very much like him, putting on a brave face and having a heart full of hope even when everything's against him. Baaww.

Loved the repetition of "It's such a lovely day" - the way the situation kind of just kept deteriorating with Wally's health was really effective.
Bittersweet and lovely. Also, Wally calling Steven Mr. Steven made me smile. And just all his letter-writing in general.
