A Higher Standard

It is perfectly acceptable to hold oneself to a higher standard in anything one might choose to undertake.
It is unacceptable, however, to hold others to that standard, especially when one is unable to maintain that standard for oneself in the first place.
Anyone who says otherwise is either ignorant or a liar.

And stop being cryptic. Being subtle doesn't work when the problem is so easily recognized. I wasn't upset just because you weren't hitting the ball over the net on your serves. You were showboating with your "face the wall" serves and many of them did not go over the net. This could have been prevented had you been serving normally. I was irritated because your showboat serves were having an adverse affect on the team. I know that wallyball is supposed to be a friendly game, but some of us also have a competitive spirit, and it is unbelievably annoying when someone else feels the need to show off repeatedly and thus diminish the team's chances of victory. I also noticed that you were berating Jon during the game. This is behavior unbecoming of a sportsman. Jon is a dedicated team player who always tries his best. He can't be everywhere at once. I know you weren't yelling at or insulting him, but it was plain to see that you were upset at him for missing hits. Therefore, you yourself were holding him to a higher standard ( ... )
