So I bought a psp so I could stream videos off my network. I haven't really fucked around with it yet, but I assume I have to set the PS3 to be part of my workgroup? You must have done this already and know what you're doing..

I actually haven't done it because my PSP is hacked, and I'm pretty sure it needs the current firmware to run remote play. I use TVersity on my PC as the media server, but you might have to copy videos directly to the PS3 to watch them via RP. Still perfectly viable. I think you'll find it to be pretty painless.

Erm, I'm retarded.. when I said PSP I meant PS3. What I wanted to do was stream stuff from my networked hard drive to the PS3. Are you saying I need to run a media server? Like, it can't just grab files like a PC would and run them?

That's crazy, the way you phrased it described Remote Play perfectly. Yeah, you need to install either TVersity or PS$mediaserver. I've been using the former, but many are having success with the latter, I guess they've improved it greatly since it original version. Once it's setup up, your PS3 will see it automatically, or you just hit "Search for media servers" and it should find it. email me at batphantom at the ol' yahoo.com if you need more help.
